WireGate
The private remote for your smart home
About WireGate
An Android app that turns your phone into a remote for your home. Each button sends an HTTP request to one of your devices, and can open a private WireGuard tunnel to your home network first. Built with Tauri 2, Vue 3 (Quasar) and Rust.
What it does
- WireGuard profiles Set up several VPN profiles, or import one from a QR code.
- Action buttons Each button sends a GET or POST request to one of your devices.
- A tunnel per button Any button can bring up a WireGuard tunnel before it sends its request.
- Launcher shortcuts Put a button on your home screen; a notification tells you how it went.
- Android Auto Trigger your buttons from your car's display.
- Wear OS A companion app for your watch, kept in sync with your phone.
- Action log The last 24 hours of actions, with their outcome and timing.
How it looks
- Light and dark Quasar 2 with Material Design icons, in a light and a dark theme.
- Dashboard Reorder buttons by drag and drop; each one shows its state as it runs.
- Icon picker Material Design icons sorted by category: IoT, security, media and more.
- Made for touch A responsive, touch-friendly layout with haptic feedback.
For tinkerers
- Test mode Try a request before you save it: the full response, and hints when it fails.
- Self-signed certificates Choose to accept HTTPS certificate errors, for devices with a self-signed certificate.
- Steady connections Host names are resolved to IP addresses up front, which avoids Android's networking quirks.
Security and privacy
Your buttons, VPN profiles and logs stay on your phone, in Android's private app storage. Requests go straight from your device to the addresses you set, and accepting a self-signed certificate is always your choice. No account, no ads, no tracking.
